Connect, Learn, Grow

Sunday Classes

Adult classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15am. Their purpose is to exalt Jesus and to keep Him at the center of our lives. Our desire is to equip and encourage people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. It is also an opportunity for people to connect in a smaller setting beyond the large church gathering.

We have ongoing classes that meet throughout the year as well as four to six-week elective classes to help people know Him better, understand and apply the Word to everyday living and to learn life skills for living in the family of Jesus as well as in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and community.

No registration is necessary for our Sunday classes unless otherwise noted. You are welcome to simply show up any Sunday and give them a try. We certainly hope you do!

Final Words: A Study in 2 Timothy

Hosted by: The Connection Point Class
Taught By Don Westerberg
Deschutes Room

The Connection Point Class is taking a break for the summer, beginning June 10. We will resume in the fall and we will again pick up our study of 2 Timothy.

If you have lived for any length of time, you probably have gone through some major transitions in life. And perhaps one of the greatest transitions takes place when someone who has been a spiritual mentor to you is passing off the scene in either a gradual or abrupt way.

In some ways, we find ourselves going through this experience for the second time as a congregation. Over a decade ago we saw our founding pastor, Lynn Kent, move into a new phase of ministry that removed him from the place of weekly mentorship to us as a church. Currently, Wayne Williams is moving out of the lead pastor’s role and passing the baton to Jay Gjurgevich.

These times of transition are critical in the life of any local congregation. But they are not unknown in the annuls of Church History or even the New Testament. In fact, the entire book of 2 Timothy constitutes the Apostle Paul’s “final words” to his disciple Timothy and through him to us as the church.

This winter we have just come through our study of the Book of Proverbs, where a wise sage passed on their wisdom to the next generation of Israelites under the Old Covenant. Now this spring we will study the New Testament book that repeats that same model in the context of the church. Paul’s words will provide a pattern for us in our own mentoring roles. But perhaps even more significant, they will remind us of what is of critical importance when there is a transition in leadership at the top.

Come join us in the Connection Point Class as we allow the Apostle Paul to serve as our “life coach” during this time of transition.  We will meet each Sunday starting April 8th at 9:15am.

Truth Seekers: Basic Bible for Internationals

Taught By Sherrie Love
Clackamas Room

Truth Seekers is an adult class designed specifically for internationals or those who are unfamiliar with the Bible.

The Book of Hebrews

Hosted by: The Come and See Class
Taught by Dick Middlebrooks
Columbia Room

We face many circumstances and challenges in life we simply surrender to, leaving us immature in our faith and incomplete as image bearers of Christ. The author of Hebrews writes passionately, encouraging the believer to not drift away but to press on to inherit what has been promised to them. Join us as we give the author our full attention this season, so that we may also learn to hold unswervingly to the Hope we profess.

Run For God

We are starting a new class at GPBC! This class combines studying the Word with exercise while building relationships with one another and learning how to live a healthier lifestyle!

The Run For God 5K Challenge is a 12-week Bible study that focuses on endurance and faith. The course is designed to allow anyone the opportunity to walk or run a 5K—regardless of fitness level—and draws parallels between a physical race and our journey with God.

  • Mentally- Learn the discipline and endurance that it takes to “run the race set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
  • Spiritually- Learn always to give God the glory for all that we accomplish. Psalms 86:12

This class is for all abilities! We will meet Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm from August 1-October 24. Feel free to drop your middle or high schooler off at Ignite and join us in the Mt. Hood Room at GPBC. Cost will be $45 which will cover our workbook and t-shirt. Register here.
